From: The Secret Journal of Beatrice Hassi Barahal (Spiritwalker Monday 12)

I’m collaborating with fabulous (& now Hugo-nominated!) artist Julie Dillon on a chapbook (she’s illustrating, I’m writing) titled “The Secret Journal of Beatrice Hassi Barahal.” It will be published by Crab Tank.

If all goes well the chapbook should be available by the June 25, 2013 release of Cold Steel.

More details and information (including bonus art) forthcoming.

Please feel free to signal boost this, as I’m practically beside myself with excitement about Julie’s gorgeous art.

Also, if you think it is something you would buy either as a print or digital copy, please let me know in the comments.

  1. I would totally buy this book! I am so looking forward to the third book in the series, and I love supplemental stuff like this. 🙂

  2. I can see now why April Fools Day would delay this. “We’re going to offering this gorgeous book….” Fans: “Yay!…No, wait, it’s April Fools Day. I can’t be real! No!!!”

  3. I would absolutely love to buy this, preferably a physical copy. Though it might prove a bit more difficult considering I’m from Central Europe.

  4. I should add that I’m not doing this to make a profit but just because I really really want to. If there is a net profit at the end, that will be nice, of course. Mostly I’m aiming not to have a loss on production costs etc. But mostly I just want this cool thing with this amazing artwork.

  5. Love it already! I’d rather the paper copy (since this series is one of the few I intend to keep on hand forever), but if it was only digital, I’d get it for sure. Congrats! It’s going to be amazing.

  6. Oh, I would absolutely buy this in print if it was available as such! You’re one of my “must buy in paper” authors, and with the bonus artwork that’s gorgeous even in a prelim? Heck yeah… can’t wait!

  7. oh my goodness! yes! i would definitely buy this. a print copy would be my preference as i love the printed page. thank you for the heads up.

  8. Dear Kate,
I would love to get my hands on a printed copy, not just because I love your books and your writing, but because I love art as well and love Julie Dillon’s art so much (I must have found her website about ten years ago now, back at school and about the same time I started reading the King of Dragons and Prince of Thieves…!).
When will both Cold Steel and The Secret Journal of Beatrice be available in the UK? Will they be available on the same date as in the US?

  9. Any updates on this fabulous book? I’m excited to finally see it at a retailer.

  10. No updates. It’s still in production.

But be sure I will announce whenever I have something new to announce!!!

  12. This looks wonderful!
I would be delighted to be able to get a digital copy.
    🙂

  13. I would love to have a printed copy of this it looks awesome will it come to New Zealand??? fingers are crossed….

  14. International orders should be manageable via the publisher (Crab Tank) or possibly via an indie bookstore in the USA, but of course shipping will be added on. 🙁 No way around that, though.

There will be an ebook version but I think this will make a really lovely printed chapbook.
